It's Never Gonna Stop!

Well, winter's here. It snowed all last night and yesterday. It snowed the day before and the day before that and the day before that. I don't think it's ever going to stop.

My workout yesterday was...you guessed it, shovelling. I got the car stuck in the driveway yesterday afternoon and had to spend an hour digging myself out. Thankfully, our next door neighbour came along with his big orange tractor and scooped out the end of our driveway. I wouldn't have gotten out at all if he hadn't come along. My three-year-old was very impressed with the tractor, boys and their machines.

When my husband got home and cleaned the driveway up, I could really see how deep the snow had gotten. It's up to my knees in places, which is approximately the same height as my dog. I had to take her out in it.

It was priceless, watching her hop through the snow and the look of terror on her face when she realized the snow was up to her eyes. She tried to dog paddle through it. It was fantastic. She didn't last long before she wanted to go back inside.

It's just above freezing now (though it's still snowing) which makes it kind of crummy for Xcountry skiing. I guess I'll take the snowshoes out again and try not to get blisters this time.

I’m not sure if I have a losing week coming my way. Hopefully my weight at least holds steady. How’s everybody else doing?

  1. I am soooo over snow. We just moved into the Iowa countryside this fall and boy was it ever an awakening! We have to carve through 3 foot tall drifts to shovel the walk between the house and garage. The drifts are taller than my kids!

  3. I hear ya. When we first moved to this house, I couldn't get over the snow! My mother said, "that's what you get for moving next to a ski hill." But common!

  5. Oh poor pup! I know when I see mine having to do their delicate business in snow I stop even being jealous of their ability to sleep in when I've got to go to work.

  6. We have no snow in our area. We do have rain!

  7. Hmmm, rain would just make a big mess right now. I don't think I'd like that.

  9. A tractor is always useful in these situations ;) Though I don't think you could ever get a tractor up to my house!! I'm glad you managed to get out.

Visiting from SITS, pleased to meet you :)

  10. We're very lucky here in Germany, all of our horrendous snow has melted and we even get to occasionally see the sun! Just have to put up with these crazy strong winds now.

  12. That's a lot of snow Agy. Ours is already starting to melt.

satakieli, our house gets so noisy when the wind picks-up. It really freaks me out. It sounds like the whole house is going to come down...though it hasn't so far :-)

  13. I've never been in snow. I've always said how much I'd love to shovel snow. After this winter seeing everyone's pictures I have rethought my stance on it.

    Stopping by from SITS!
